We’re very proud that Declan MacPhee, one of our juniors whose game has gone from strength to strength, has been invited to play in the prestigious Under 21 Golf Croquet Word Championships in Florida this April. A second international event is also a possibility. The costs of travel and accommodation would not be affordable for his family, one of whom would accompany him for safeguarding reasons. Declan’s uncle, Chris, has therefore started a crowd funding campaign.
The club does not currently have a bursary scheme for worthy cases such as this so we cannot make a contribution on your behalf. However we commend this crowd funder to any members who wish to support Declan.
Many thanks to all who have supported him this far, especially the junior coaching squad.

Nottingham Croquet Club is delighted that its President, Ian Vincent, was last week presented with the British Empire Medal which had been awarded to him for Services to Croquet in the New Year Honours List.
Dr Ian Vincent BEM is pictured here with Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Professor Veronica Pickering MBS HAC, who presented the award on behalf of HM King Charles.

Ian joined the club in 1977, after moving to the City to take up a post at the Cripps Computing Centre in the University. He was elected as the club’s Hon. Secretary the following year and served for 38 years, until becoming its President in 2016. He has also been active in the national governing body, Croquet England (formerly the Croquet Association), and internationally, particularly in the development of the Laws and Rules of the sport. Ian is a Vice-President of Croquet England.
Many congratulations to Ian.
