Frazer Wanstall wins Charity one-ball event

One-ball event in aid of British Heart Foundation.

25 players, a record for Nottingham in this annual charity event, took part on Saturday 1 May in chilly but mainly dry conditions. 25 players on 5 lawns led to a certain amount of triple-banking, fortunately not too difficult in a one-ball event, though it did somewhat bemuse the young Turkish couple who came in to watch!

It was good to see many of our newer members taking part, as well as the usual suspects.

As 5pm approached, there were still two unbeaten players – Frazer Wanstall (4/4) and Irmgard Finnigan (3/3), who played each other in a final round. Frazer beat Irmgard +2, to earn the John Hansen trophy, presented to him by club President Ian Vincent.

The Nottingham heat raised £200 for the British Heart foundation, and at the time of writing, Kevin Carter, the national organiser, says that there have been 33 heats across the country, involving 420 players, raising over £6,000 for charity.
