Omied Hallam and Elizabeth Shelton won the 2021 “Hallam Doubles” tournament.

On the wet weekend of  6th and 7th of August, 10 doubles pairings of club members took part in the 2021 Hallam Doubles, named in memory of the late Brian Hallam.

The cricketers at Trent Bridge abandoned their test match due to rain, but Nottingham’s croquet stalwarts are made of sterner stuff, and continued in spite of conditions, sometimes playing under an umbrella held by their doubles partner. After four rounds of challenging play, the final turned out to involve three Hallams; Brian's sons Sanaa partnering his wife Philipine, and Omied partnering Elizabeth Shelton.

Omied and Elizabeth eventually prevailed in a tight and exciting (if wet) final.

Cheshire cat event

The second annual "Cheshire Cat" fun event organised by Mark Lansdale was held on Sunday 25th July. There was a tremdendous turnout of about 10 teams of four in fancy dress, and a series of informal croquet-like activities enjoyed by all present with great gusto. It is not clear to me which team won but I do know that everyone had a good time. Some photos below and more here .
