Nottingham player in Opens Final

Paddy Chapman and James Death played each other for a place in the final of the AC Open Championship, to play the winner of Robert Fulford and Jamie Burch. James beat Reg Bamford in a best of three quarter-final; Paddy got through against David Maugham.

In the semis, Paddy and Robert both won in two games.  In the final, Robert FUlford also won in two games to take the title for the record 11th time.

Ian Vincent qualified for the main knock-out for the first time since the qualification system started, but lost in the first round to Stephen Mulliner.

David Maugham won the East Midlands Championship

David Maugham won the East Midlands Championship to take the Hopewell Cup for the fifth time, from a record field of 32, beating Gabrielle Higgins +25tp +26tp in the play-off between the winners of the draw and process.

In the plate, Rachel Rowe was the highest placed club member, but David Brydon, with a 50% record, played well above his ranking and Richard Huxley got the Croquet Association's gold award for his first ever triple peel in a tournament.

I can confirm that the catering, provided by Lorna Orton, Sophie McGlen and Gordon Hopewell, was well up to our high standards.  Many thanks to them, and all those who helped in smaller ways during the weekend.
