The 2022 GC Inter-Counties Championship, played this weekend at Cheltenham, was won by the Nottinghamshire team, all four of whose players were members of our club. Congratulations to them on a great performance.

Our 6-day Annual Tournament completed today (Sat 20th Aug) and we were honoured to have the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Wendy Smith, who gave a speech and presented trophies.
44 players had taken part, managed as effectively and amiably as ever by Peter Death. The weather was excellent and for the first time we were able to use the newly laid western lawns. These were playing so well that they were chosen as the venue for that always popular spectacle, the handicap doubles final.
In the finals:
Handicap Singles (Robin Hood): Dave Gunn beat Neal Bacon
Handicap Doubes: Omied Hallam & Mark Lansdale beat Neal Bacon and Andrew Beaumont
Class Singles:
- A class: Dave Kibble beat John Davis
- B class: Trevor Longman beat David Brydon
- C class: Viv Staley beat Mark Lansdale
- D class: Mick Owens beat Diana Plant
Thanks were expressed to all who had made it happen: Charlie Paget, the greenkeeper, for his excellent work in preparing the lawns each day; Peter for managing the tournament; the catering team who provided splendid lunches and teas every day; those acting as referees, and all who helped in numerous other ways.
A formal report with full results will be published in due course.
