The club has three members playing on the final day of the Women's World Championship it has been hosting. Miranda Chapman beat last time's losing finalist Alison Sharpe 3-0. She plays another player representing England, Gabrielle Higgins, who beat the holder Jenny Clarke 3-1. Ailsa Lines contests the final of the Bowl (the event for first round losers in the Championship knock-out) and Beatrice McGlen is one of the semi-finalists of the Shield.
The Championship final will be best of 5, starting at 9.30 am. If coming to watch, please bring a chair!
Of the four club members who qualified for the main knockout of the Women's AC World Championship, Miranda Chapman and Rachel Rowe reached the last eight, beating Australians Rosemary Newsham and Kathleen Colclough respectively, but Beatrice McGlen lost to fellow England player Gabrielle Higgins, and Ailsa Lines lost to another Australian, Jannine Hawker.
Unfortunately, Miranda and Rachel were drawn against each other, with Miranda winning a high quality match to become the club's only representative in the semi-finals. She plays Alison Sharpe from Australia to meet the winner of Jenny Clarke (NZ) and Gabrielle Higgins (ENG). The semi-finals will be best of five, starting at 9:30 am on Friday, 31st July.
