Jim Kirby Cup 2017 Report

The Jim Kirby Cup for AC beginners was held on Saturday 9th September.

There were 12 entries, the best for a while. The weather in the morning was not kind but improved as the day progressed, as did the standard of play.

The cup was won by Paul Maguire but runner up Isaac Leafe gave him a worthy battle. Congratulations also to Diane Lane & Irmgard Finnigan finishing 3rd & 4th. An enjoyable day was had by all and much experience gained in the game of Association Croquet.

The day was particularly made special by a generous donation from Jim Kirbys' grandson Ben Hargreaves. We are reliably informed that he will be a fellow beginner in 2018.

The tournament is a yearly event for 1st and 2nd year beginners in AC with handicap limitations 24 – 18.

James Death – New Fastest TP 4mins 37sec

30th August 2017 James Death & Ian Burridge were taking alternate attempts to beat the fastest TP this afternoon. Ian had perfected a two ball break, he had earlier pegged out in 5mins 4secs but for front ball to miss the peg. James followed Ians strategy and with some early peels he went on to post a record time of 4mins 37sec.
